The Xbox 360 Gaming System – Is It Still The King Of The Hill

The new Xbox 360 system is the next thing in video games of today. You can still play regular Xbox games and watch DVDs on it but it is so much better then the regular Xbox for many reasons. I first bought the Xbox to play games like Madden Football and Metal Gear but once the came out with the first Halo I was really hooked so needless to say when the new Xbox 360 came out it was a must have video game system for me.

If you are serious about your gaming you will want to upgrade some of the basic accessories that come with the system for better performance. Below are some of the many accessories that you can buy for your Xbox or soon to be Xbox.

Even though you will not need a memory stick or card for the Xbox because you have a 20GB hard drive it is good to have in case you need to take your saved progress with you some place. To keep your controllers charged you can buy a charge station so that when you are not using one controller the battery pack for the other will be charging so you can just switch off and on like that.

You can get a wireless adapter so you don’t have to worry about cables and such and you can also buy your Xbox an intercooler so it will stay nice and cool while you are playing the games you love.

There are all kinds of controllers that you can buy for your Xbox such as either wireless extra controllers or you can pick from the many different wired controllers that they are now offering these days.

You can also get the HD cables if you have an HDTV all you do is either order them or go buy them from the local gaming store. These accessories are a need if you are a big gamer and might be the key to your gaming.

Some of the games available for the system in addition to my favorite Halo 3 are Meet the Robinsons and Star Trek Legacy for kids and then some of my favorite shooter games like Rainbow Six, Gears Of War, and Hitman. Of course there are also the nearly enumerable sports games as well for those of us who are sports nuts.

I am a little prejudiced when it comes to Xbox because I have owned a version of the system for many years and have played the games on my big screen but I still think you can’t go wrong with the new Xbox 360 if you are a serious gamer. With the option of getting a subscription to Xbox Live it really leaves nothing to be desired.

Review by Alvaro Sáenz Saborio for Hitman 2 Silent Assassin
When I first played the game I was really pumped up because I had the idea it was one of the best games ever. After playing it for the first time with my friends I thought it was an excellent game. But when I played it later it justed seemed to hard to get it right. But time has brought the true colors of the game to show. Everything is possible, I have already managed to get through 2 levels using just ONE bullet. The ways you can hide are also amazing, changing clothes, carrying guns inside grosey bags. The graphics are great, everything youd expect out of your xbox. The guns are also great, there are tons of um, the bad thing is you have to end a mission with it to get it. One other bad thing is at the end of the mission you are told how you did and given a rank like hitman, silent assasin, executioner, etc. but you dont know what order they have so you dont know how well you are doing. The game takes a lot of patience, theres a hole lot of walking and little runing. Some people say the controls are hard but if you have halo or just are a good gamer their acctualy kinda easy.

This game as one of the other interviewers said, “Definately not a shooter.” This game is for people who like to use their heads and think. I liked the first Hitman, but felt it was a little lacking. This version of Hitman looks like they cleaned up where they missed, the graphics look a whole hell of a lot better too. Stealth is what this game is about, and just like in real life, if you want to be a hitman you have to be unseen, quiet, and smart. Going in with guns blazing, you may drop some people but you’ll also get dropped too.
So buy this game only if you like mental challenges. If you’re a gun blazer you end up hating this game within about 5 minutes.

I purchased this game from EB and was immediately told by the sales person I would be dissipointed since he had been stuck on a particular part of the game for 4 days. I started to feel a bit queasy and after getting home I spent the next 3 hours feeling like a lost puppy. I went to sleep thinking I had wasted “$”. But after giving it a rest a little bit and figuring out the controls more I have done a complete 180. The story is good, cutscenes Great and gameplay FANTASTIC!!! It just takes a little getting used too. But this game is a definate buy! You can switch between third person and first person view, many different weapons, and much more. But beware, this game is more about stealth than finishing a mission by killing everything in sight. The current mission I am on I cant be seen by anyone or else the mission is failed. But this game is worth at least a rent and if you like what you see then buy it, this game is the best x-box release in a while.

Review by Lisa Shea for Hitman 2 Silent Assassin
Hitman 2 is a first person shooter which rewards control and stealth over full-out blasting. Gorgeous graphics and freeform gameplay make this great for teenagers and adults. To start out, you’re a retired hitman, enjoying the beauty, peace, and serenity of Sicily, Italy. You talk with your friend, the priest, about your hope for being one with God. Unfortunately for you, this is when the bad guys show up and kidnap the priest. You don’t have the $500,000 ransom they demand, so you call up your agency and arrange to do some missions for them in return for help rescuing the priest. And you’re off! You’re wandering through very well done maps, with a diverse collection of tools at your disposal. Do you pick the locks to go in the back way? Shoot the guy from the trees, sneak up and wire him, maybe chloroform him in a corner? The game is very open-pathed. You choose which way to approach a mission, what might work best. Your opponents are smart and react to finding bodies or to unusual behavior. This isn’t a go-here-then-go-there game, it’s a game where you’re placed in the world and have to decide which approach works best for you. There’s a stealth meter, you can hear your footsteps, you can see your shadow. Having just finished playing Splinter Cell, though, the game suffers a bit in comparison. The movements are more jerky, the lighting not nearly as nicely done. You can peer through keyholes, but not around a partially opened door, or shoot around the door. You can’t move along walls and peer around the corner. So some stealth techniques we found quite natural and helpful from Spliter Cell were impossible here. Also, the open-endedness of the missions can lead to frustration. Even taking one step two far or opening the wrong door can lead to mission failures, so you can spend hours on a single mission trying to figure out which technique will work. In essence you learn what each AI character does and then work around it – which isn’t very realistic.Still, the game is quite fun to play, the graphics are very nice, and the missions are interested. Recommended for any fan of the stealth-fps genre.

Review by Rodney W. Cogbill for Hitman 2 Silent Assassin
Having not played any earlier versions of this franchise, I did not know what to expect. What I got when I bought it was an excellent 1 player experience for those who like to shed a little blood in their gaming. Hitman 2 creates a realistic tension that is unfortunately rare in FPS or action games. When it is possible you will be detected, your heart beats furiously and you can feel it as the vibration feedback unit of the controller pulses in your hand. The best thing about this game is you can approach it any way you wish, but you just may not be successful. While not recommending an open-it-up and blast away approach, it can work on some levels. However, you will be penalized in your overall rating if you are not using enough stealth and cunning. Overall, this is one heck of a game that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys FPS adventures.Gameplay: 8.5
You can change from 1st person to 3rd person at any time, and it will depend on your current circumstances which one is more advantageous. Excellent camera, excellent AI, sharp graphics, the controls are tight, and there are numerous and varied locales for your exploits. The storyline is weak, but who cares? The action is what matters. No multiplayer and sometimes confusing objectives status are only real drawbacks.Replay: 9
There is a learning curve, but it is not too steep. While your mission always has the same general objective- to kill- the different locales around the world, the different weapons one can use, and the varying levels of difficulty in each circumstance will keep you coming back for more.
