I’ll list what’s good and bad, hopefully you will see enough to decide if you want it or not. I own 12 PSP games. This one is better than most, but does have some setbacks.

The Good:

Connery’s voice is great, and the atmosphere of the game gets the 60′s look and feel just right. The missions are fun, and overall the game looks good. Lots of weapons, good soundtrack. Bond focus mode will bail you out quite a bit. Some think it makes the game too easy, but I like it.

The Bad:

The frame rate is jumpy. You will walk too close to a wall and the camera angle gets out of whack and cuts out until you move away. The movement of the camera is slow, which can get you killed when you are getting shot off screen and trying to find the bad guy. The game is a little bit short. I found the cut scenes to be poorly done, and fuzzy like they rushed it out before it had been fully completed.

Overall: I like it, it gets you involved in the story and the game is fun if you can overlook some annoying frame rate problems. A game like GTA Liberty City is much longer, and Siphon Filter is a better shooter, so if you don’t have those games yet you may want to think about getting them first.

Sound- Musically, it has all the classic James Bond theme music that we all love. Also, having Sean Connery’s voice is a huge plus, despite the fact theat he sounds his current age. Also lending their voices to this game are Maria Menunos and Natasha Bedengfield. 8/10

Graphics- The graphics are very good for psp, and the cutscenes are amazing. James Bond really does look like Sean Connery. 9/10

Features- I love the feature where you get points for how good a shot you make, and you use those points to upgrade your weapons ( max ammo, max accuracy, etc. )The missions grade you on kills, time, “bond moment” ( where you do something just like bond would), and difficulty. Also, the Bond Focus mode is great,k where you can aim for any part of their body. 8.5/10

Controls- The games one sour point. You constantly find the camera being behind bond, and since square is ” bond focus ” and camera turn, it is frustrationg in a heated battle. Also, Bond runs awkwardly. Now for the good: It is easy to aim to enemies, and shoot them. Great use of the d-pad enables you to switch weapons and gadgets on the go. 5/10

Fun- This game is tons of fun, a great shooter for psp. Nonstop action, cool gadgets ( like the q-copter), and a great multiplayer. Online, you can choose 1 of 4 game modes, and you can even play in a jetpack only deathmatch!! Good replay value, because you can go back to missions you already beat so you can beat the “challenges”. 9/10

Overall- 8.5/10

I recommend this game to fans of Bond, or anyone who wants a great action shooter.

I played 1/2 the first level of FRWL and thought ‘what a piece of junk’ and set it aside. The first level is awful, and the end of the level with the helicopter boss is laughable. However, I was stuck in the middle of nowhere with my PSP and finished the game a couple of weeks back and I have to say it got better, but not that much.

Bond Focus

This is a stupid feature. It makes the PP7 pistol as deadly accurate as the sniper rifle with faster reload times. Reality is out the window and the need for all the weapons is gone. I never even used the serum gun or any of the Q gadgets except the helicopter which you needed (and using it sucked).

Play

Bond looks like Lance Link Secret Chimp in his white suit with his crouched posture. He is hard to control, but EA knows this so he can’t fall off anything, there are little jump points when he needs to jump and he just does it automatically. Bosses are pretty lame, storyline seems chopped up for the port (what is the point of the boat scene). I wanted to drive the Aston Martin, but Noooooo…. Just got to chimp around a few fairly large, but not well rendered levels.

Replay Value

I hate having to unlock bonus material, and the bonus material in this one is not worth unlocking unless I missed something.

Good Points

Nice cutscenes and voicework although Siphon Filter really makes this game look like amateur hour.

Its Bond and Sir Sean did some voice work for the game. I think he played the chimp in the suit.

Bad Points

The sniper rifle could have been fun, but it was just a useless prop. Why even use it when you can down an enemy at half a mile with a pistol.

Some very lame levels and not much exploring to do

Well, at least the redeeming factor is that this is a Bond game.

But that’s just about it. From Russia with Love, the first PSP James Bond game is more than just flawed. The game is so poorly made it is amazing that it left the game tester’s room.

The game attempts to follow the classic Bond movie of the same name, but only mildly so. You play Bond, who can have amazing accuracy with “Bond Mode.” Bond Mode, something which could be cool, made the game terrible since it provided one hit kills nearly 100% of the time.

But the easiness isn’t certainly the only aspect of the game that makes it not worth your time – or money. Even aside from the fact that you can play the whole game from start to finish in less than half a day (seriously) the seven or so chapters can be ‘replayed’ (god lone knows why) so that you can improve a “Bond score” which is consequently useless.

The frequent cut scenes, are, however refreshing and sharp, since the CG graphics were well made. It seems that there is a multiplayer mode, but the single player was so terrible I got rid of my copy before attempting anything further.

The faster you shoot enemies, the more upgrade points you get. These are useless since you are provided with an endless arsenal of weapons – Bond seems to carry around one ton worth of automatic and semi-automatic weapons, most of which do the job of dispatching foes in seconds. It doesn’t matter if you upgrade one thing over the other – you have five other weapons to take its place when the ammo runs out.

And massive bosses are just as easy to take out, when Bond has a bazooka.

Maybe the worst offense to the Bond legacy is the changing of the storyline and renaming SPECTRE to Octopus. Why does EA get the right to alter the storyline? It shouldn’t, and they did since they were lazy to make a good game.

GRAPHICS: 5/10 (Boxy characters, overused overlays (suits are the same, etc) and no graphics for enemies)

SOUND: 8/10 (A great Bond soundtrack)

CONTROLS: 4/10 (Camera angles are terrible, slow to respond after settings are altered)

DIFFICULTY: 2/10 (Only since Bond is facing the wall when he gets pummeled by lead since the camera gets stuck, and the “gas” that can kill Bond)

OVERALL: 3/10 (Game is worth less than the UMD it was burned on, and I don’t average the above scores – ok?)
